A genuine showpiece of WWII... no — of WWI naval history. Admiral of the Fleet Viscount Jellicoe of Scapa commanded the British Grand Fleet at the Battle of Jutland, the largest naval engagement of the First World War. In this 1921 first US edition (George H. Doran Company) he tells the inside story of 1917 — the year German U-boats came within a hair of starving Britain into surrender, and the desperate campaign to defeat them. This copy is complete: all 8 plates and 6 fold-out battle charts are present (the charts tucked in the rear pocket, showing patrol zones, approach lanes, and the Mediterranean). The light-green cloth is sound with an honestly-chipped paper spine label. A primary-source artifact by the admiral himself.
